Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
If you recognized yourself in that list, relief may be closer than you think. A single visit can change how you feel every day.
What Happens When You Wait?
Infection Can Spread
What starts in one tooth can reach the surrounding bone and tissue over time.
Treatment Gets More Complex
A tooth that could be saved today may need extraction if the damage progresses.
Pain Becomes Harder to Manage
Mild discomfort can turn into persistent, sharp pain that disrupts your daily routine.
Costs Increase Over Time
Delaying a straightforward treatment often leads to more involved and expensive procedures later.
Fewer Options Remain
The longer an infection goes untreated, the less likely the tooth can be preserved.
Daily Life Stays on Hold
Every week spent avoiding the problem is another week of limited eating, broken sleep, and ongoing frustration.
The sooner you act, the simpler and more comfortable your treatment can be.
How Root Canal Treatment Saves Your Tooth
Inside every tooth is a soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. When decay, a crack, or an injury allows bacteria to reach the pulp, infection sets in. Root canal treatment removes that infected tissue, cleans and disinfects the inner chamber, and seals the tooth to prevent further damage. The treated tooth stays in place and continues to function just like the teeth around it.
At Berkshire Smile Studio, we use CBCT imaging to see detailed, three-dimensional views of your tooth and surrounding bone before treatment begins. This advanced imaging helps us plan root canal treatment in Pittsfield, MA with greater precision, so every step is guided by a clear picture of what your tooth needs.

What to Expect During Your Root Canal Treatment
Evaluation and Treatment Planning
Your visit begins with a thorough examination, including CBCT imaging that gives us a detailed, three-dimensional view of your tooth. We review the images with you, explain exactly what we see, and walk through the treatment plan so you know what to expect before anything begins. You will have time to ask questions and feel confident about the path forward.
Numbing and Preparation
We apply a local anesthetic to ensure you are completely comfortable throughout the appointment. Many patients are surprised at how little they feel. Once the area is fully numb, we isolate the tooth with a small protective shield that keeps it clean and dry during treatment.
Cleaning and Sealing the Tooth
Using precision instruments, we carefully remove the infected pulp tissue from inside the tooth. The inner chamber and root canals are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to eliminate bacteria. Once everything is clear, we fill and seal the space with a biocompatible material that prevents reinfection and restores the tooth's internal structure.
Restoring Your Tooth
With CEREC technology, we can design and place a custom crown during the same visit. The crown fits over the treated tooth, restoring its full strength and natural appearance. You leave our office with a tooth that looks, feels, and functions like it should.

What to Expect After Root Canal Treatment
First 24-48 Hours:
Mild tenderness around the treated tooth is normal and typically managed with over-the-counter pain relief. You may notice some sensitivity when biting down. Stick to softer foods for the first day or two, and avoid chewing directly on the treated side until any soreness fades.
First Week:
By the end of the first week, most patients feel completely back to normal. Any lingering sensitivity usually resolves within a few days. You can gradually return to your regular diet and resume all normal activities. Brushing and flossing can continue as usual, just be gentle around the treated area for the first couple of days.
